Work around holidays

Filed under: Holiday — dracil @ 1:00 am

Work’s kinda empty and boring with so few people around.  Maybe 5-7 people, including me.

Also, some extra-company politics today.  ’nuff said.

Gaza Protest in SF

Filed under: Controversy, events, News, Politics, religion — dracil @ 4:38 am

It began at 5, I went there at 7.  Didn’t see anyone, and walked down Montgomery to head on home and then stumbled on them.  They were camped out in the middle of the street completely blocking traffic and there was a lot of police there with their batons out.  They marched to Union Square and I followed.  After a while, they moved on, probably to Civic Center but I decided to go home after that.

BTW, this was supposed to be a “silent” vigil.  It was anything but.

As far as my personal opinion about the issue goes, the Pro-Palestinian protests are one of the things that got me really disgusted with liberals when I was at Cal (and contributed to my shift t.  The other would be the affirmative action stuff.  It’s not that I support what Israel’s doing, it’s that you hear nary a peep from these same protesters about the actions of Hamas, who will in so many words, spew out feel-good messages about stopping violence/protecting peace, but can only seem to bring themselves to condemn Israel.  Yeah, balanced much?  It just stinks to high heaven of hypocrisy.  If they ever mention the actions of the Hamas/Palestinians it is only after a LOT of goading and even then, it will just be a token reference.  Like token minorities in movies.  Not very convincing.

Not a good weekend for me.  Went to check out a board game group I’ve been to in the past, and looking through the window it seemed like there was nobody there, so I went home.

Turns out they were in the back room.  Doh.

Rejected again

Because I didn’t know if I had a blood transfusion at my surgeries.  Urk.  They should really just put up their checklist form on their website so we can verify all that information BEFORE we go all the way there.

Oh, this was for donating blood.

The last time I tried giving blood was a spontaneous thing because there was a vehicle next to the church I was at and I thought why not but I hadn’t really eaten or drank anything that day yet and apparently that’s a no-no.

Nodame Cantabile Paris Chapter OP and ED

It’s over.  :(  Third season next fall.

So I guess in an attempt to prolong it for a bit longer, I looked up some information on the OP and ED songs.  Apparently there was quite a bit of collaboration.  The OP is “Sky High” by The Gospellers.  The ED is 東京 et 巴里 (Tokyo to Paris) by 宮本笑里 (Miyamoto Emiri) x solita.

So first, if you have no idea about the story, at its simplest, it’s a romantic comedy/drama/slice of life about two musicians.  As such, there is a lot of classical music presented in the series.   What’s notable about the opening and ending songs is that they are both actually variations of some classical music.

See if you can figure out what they are.

Ok, if you haven’t figured it out yet, then listen to the two videos below.  Failing that, just go to the video’s page and you can see what pieces they’re from.

In any case, the two songs tie in really well with the series.  What’s a little more unusual is that you can see people from the two videos in each other’s videos.  Emiri’s in The Gospeller’s video and The Gospellers’ are in her video.

Hmm, I pretty much slept the entire day away.  Mostly it’s just catching up on it.

I blame the cold and the comfiness of my bed.

Crappy weather

Filed under: personal — dracil @ 2:37 am

What a dreary Christmas.  Not really doing anything, just taking it easy playing games and catching up on some shows.  It’s also rainy so it’s not like I want to go out either.  It’s also really windy and it actually sounds like thunder.

Ankle update

Filed under: personal — dracil @ 12:41 am

So went to see the doctor today.  Things went well I guess.  Next appointment is in 6 months.

Current symptoms:
1) Sometimes when I first put my foot down, it may hurt a little which is normal
2) The broken screw may cause problems in the future, like 5% chance, if it does, it’ll hurt around the shin area
3) Popping sounds are normal too

More hail

Wish we had snow instead.  At least that’s something you don’t really get here.  Hail can hurt.
